The double-decked bridge now closed to car traffic after a new Kota Bridge was built alongside it in the 1992, although the lower deck is still used by pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles.
In the 17th century, the Bugis began to settle in the coastal region of Selangor including Klang, and the was created in the 1766, which then controlled Klang.
During the Klang War, in 1868, the seat of power was moved to Bandar Temasya, , and then to which became the royal capital of Selangor.
